Best Film In a Horror Series

Post by Rotting Corpse » Sun Mar 26, 2017 11:02 pm

Here's a fun little quiz, of the following Horror series with at least three or more movies, which is your single favorite entry in each? Just cut and paste the list and replace with your choices and feel free to add any other series I forgot.

---

Friday The 13th
Halloween
A Nightmare On Elm Street
Saw
Scream
Evil Dead
Phantasm
Alien
Predator
Hellraiser
Child's Play
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Final Destination
Insidious
The Conjuring
The Purge
Paranormal Activity

---

My choices:

Friday The 13th - The Final Chapter
Halloween - 1978 Original
A Nightmare On Elm Street - New Nightmare
Saw - Saw II
Scream - Original
Evil Dead - Evil Dead II
Phantasm - Phantasm II
Alien - Aliens
Predator - Predator 2
Hellraiser - Original
Child's Play - Original
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 2003 Remake
Final Destination - Original
Insidious - Chapter 3
The Conjuring - The Conjuring 2
The Purge - Anarchy
Paranormal Activity - Original

And some additionals:

Puppet Master - Puppet Master 4
Maniac Cop - Maniac Cop 2
Romero's Living Dead - Day Of The Dead (1985)
Return Of The Living Dead - Part II
Poltergeist - Poltergeist II
Jaws - Original
Cube - Original
Tremors - Original
Leprechaun - Original
Blade - Still unsure between either of the first two
Amityville - Only seen the original, remake and It's About Time
Resident Evil - Seen the first two, need to see the rest to make fair judgment

I'm sure some of my picks will be controversial like Predator 2, ROTLD Part II and Poltergeist II, which isn't to say I disliked the originals at all, just simply enjoyed the sequel more. I'm a big fan of most of these series and most of the films in their respective series.

This is tricky, because most of the films I haven't seen in years but here goes...

Friday The 13th - Jason Lives
Halloween - Original
A Nightmare On Elm Street - Original
Saw - None of them, I really dislike this franchise.
Scream - I'm gonna go with the original, none of the others stand out.
Evil Dead - Part 2 or the remake.
Phantasm - I think I've only seen the original, so the original.
Alien - Damn, that's tough. 1 & 2 are such totally different yet awesome movies. I'll go with original.
Predator - Original.
Hellraiser - Original
Child's Play - I've seen some of them, but no recollection of which ones. Pass.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - original or remake. the remake is solid.
Final Destination - Original or the last one. Probably the last one for how it wraps things up.
Insidious - Have to be the original, I haven't seen the others.
The Conjuring - Wall of shame. Still need to see it.
The Purge - The first one that had Frank Grillo in it.
Paranormal Activity - Have not seen a PA film, no desire to either.

This is a great idea for a thread. I'm going to answer it when I get home.

Thanks, I look forward to reading your response :)

Also forgot the Hannibal Lecter series before. The Silence Of The Lambs is definitely the best IMO, though I also love Manhunter.

It's difficult to decide. I don't so much look at things as favorite, but which ones I don't like. Generally, I like most of them.

Kind of a shame it had no sequels, I think a lot could've been done with the concept in more movies.

I'm kind of glad it didn't. Not everything needs to be a franchise.

That is true, though it's always interesting to ponder if certain films had led to a series.

Blair Witch is another series I forgot in the original post. I've seen the first and third, find both pretty meh but I guess I liked the latter a bit better. Never saw the second.

Some good ones you added there. With Re-Animator I've only seen the first and love it. Been curious about it's two sequels.

Warlock is another I remembered. Seen the first two and liked both (can't remember which was my favorite). Never saw the third which didn't have the same actor in it.
