Kids today will never know. Re: '70s/'80s TV Movies

Hamillton Books was having a big ol' sale on Code Red Blu-rays (many if not all OOP!!) for $9.95 each. One of them I picked up is the double feature Sasquatch: The Legend of Bigfoot and Encounter with the Unknown, both TV movies from the '70s. I'm watching Sasquatch now, and it's everything I want it to be. Comet TV should play this. Ron, pretty sure you would love this. (I'm not saying it because of the Bigfoot angle; I mean you would love this all around. )

I vaguely know that movie, I should watch it because I would probably dig the 70's aspect of it. Is Encounter an anthology?

Yeah, Encounter is an anthology, and not a very good one.

Did you IMDB it? The director's a real director who went on to make a bunch of sitcoms and shows including Designing Women and The Fall Guy. He has a real IMDB page and everything. He's also credited as the 4th writer (of a 3 story anthology...)

The main 3 writers are all hack nobodies. One guy was a journalist who had appeared on talk shows in the early 70's because he seemingly had something to do with watergate. The other two guys, basically each wrote this and then have one other credit. One guy wrote a big foot movie, and the other one wrote a bad scifi TV movie in the 60's. I'd bet the director got a writing credit because he had to fix so much shit in the scripts.

Rod Serling was my age when he did this, so I can pretty much tell you that he probably only did it for the money. I'm thinking they hired him to add some kind of legitimacy to this, and I'm thinking late 40's Rod was like, "Hey, paycheck!" Rod only narrated a handful of things, I think less than 10, and most were either his own work or more on the satire side where having his voice there would get a laugh. So, I'm betting he got a lot of money for this.

The more I research this movie, the more I can believe this is a shitfest.

Yeah, exactly!

I would bet it was something where he walked in, grabbed a script, did the voice overs for maybe an hour and cashed his check. I wouldn't be surprised if he never saw or read a full script of this movie.
