Region 1 Horror and Cult DVDs coming out on March 16th, 2010

New on Blu-ray:

Fallen Angels ($29.95 MSRP): Commonly regarded as one of the most influential directors of contemporary cinema, Wong Kar-Wai (Happy Together, In the Mood for Love) has developed a signature style that employs bold, experimental uses of photography, music, and editing to capture the tension of the new millennium. Originally intended to be a third story in his now classic Chungking Express, Fallen Angels has emerged as what some critics have come to consider his quintessential work. Set in the neon-washed underworld of present day Hong Kong, Fallen Angels intertwines exhilarating tales of love and isolation, primarily the unconsummated love affair between a contract Killer (Leon Lai Ming) and the ravishing female Agent (Michele Reis) who books his assignments and cleans up after his jobs.

The Fourth Kind ($36.98 MSRP): In remote Alaska, citizens have been mysteriously vanishing since the 1960s. Despite multiple FBI investigations, the truth behind the phenomena had never been discovered — until now. While videotaping therapy sessions with traumatized patients, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) unwittingly exposes terrifying revelations of multiple victims whose claims of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details.

The Fourth Kind is also available on standard DVD.

Ninja Assasin ($35.99 MSRP): The entertaining, adrenaline-packed Ninja Assassin wastes no time cutting quite literally to the guts and gore of the mysterious world of ninja warriors — the blood flows as freely as champagne on New Year's Eve. Only 3-D might have made it even better. Taken from the streets as a child, the orphan Raizo (Korean pop artist Rain, in his first leading role) is molded into a deadly assassin through methods that might make even the strong of stomach wince. The story flows from present-day Berlin to Raizo's brutal training by the Ozunu, one of the mythical Nine Clans that perform political assassinations around the world. Refusal to follow an order by the clan leader forces Raizo into a life on the run. When Mika (Naomie Harris), a Europol researcher, gets too close to the truth, Raizo risks detection by his former clan-mates to protect her, and to exact his revenge.

Ninja Assasin is also available on standard DVD.

I couldn't find a trailer for either of these, so enjoy this video from The Last Dragon.

Death Journey ($16.98 MSRP): Fearful that their star witness might be murdered, two attorneys hire a protector to bring him from Los Angeles to New York. Jesse Crowder (Fred Williamson) is a no-nonsense tough guy. He buddies up with the witness, an accountant, and they hit the road. Outwitting their foes means taking all manner of conveyance, including automobile, train, and airplane. At every turn, Crowder and the witness face a variety of attacks, including gunfire and knife-wielding villains. At ease with the ladies, Crowder manages the entire journey with shirt unbuttoned and stogie clenched firmly in his teeth.

No Death Journey trailer to be found, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying a cool King Cobra with Fred Williamson.

Accompanied by his small crew, Josh dives into the local cultures and searches for clues to the existence of strange creatures and paranormal phenomena.

Mean Johnny Barrows: Uncut Director's Edition ($19.98 MSRP): Johnny Barrows, a G.I, is dishonorably discharged from the army after striking his commanding officer. When he returns home, he is mugged and thrown in jail. Down on his luck and with no money, he gets a job at a gas station run by a racist jerk. After a while, he beats him up and is thrown in jail again. Shortly after, a mobster hires him as a mafia hit man because of his military training and he now gets caught in the middle of a rival gang war between two families.

Yet another trailer that couldn't be tracked down, so listen to the soothing sounds of Ratt, as they go "Round and Round."

Vengeance Trilogy (Sympathy for Mr. Vegeance/Oldboy/Lady Vengeance) ($49.99 MSRP): The ultimate collection of three films by acclaimed Korean director Chan-wook Park that includes Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy and Lady Vengeance, three of Tartan's all-time top releases.

Note, Tartan has stated that the Vengeance Trilogy will be released only at Best Buy's for the first 90 days, so Amazon may have neglected to adjust the order date.

The Fourth Kind looks interesting, but damn if Code Red didn't knock it out of the park with their covers of Death Journey, Mean Johnny Barrows and Quadroon.

You can order these movies from Amazon US by either clicking the links to the left of the descriptions or you can click on the covers below:
